We see these awards as fuel to our sustainability initiatives and such recognitions will further drive us to collaborate with the communities in making a difference”.

Water is one of SABMiller India’s primary sustainable development priorities. The company is committed to sound water management practices throughout its operations in a manner that takes account of local geographical, environmental and social factors. Neemrana ground water management initiative is one of the numerous projects initiated by the company to conserve water resources in the areas where it operates. The initiative has been able to provide a long-term solution to water management in the region; thereby improving the living standards of the farmers and the larger community. On a larger scale, the success of SABMiller India’s Neemrana project lies in emerging as one of the models of resource management that can be replicated elsewhere without having to reinvent the wheel.

Promoting responsible drinking is an important business imperative for SABMiller India. The company’s ‘Respect the Road’-Don’t drink and drive campaign, launched in 2011, has been instrumental in promoting responsible drinking. The campaign encourages the use of alternatives to drinking and driving such as hire a cab, call a driver or designate a buddy to drive. The digital adaptation of the campaign has become the largest responsible drinking campaign in India with more than 25,000 followers on Facebook. The campaign is highly interactive through organizing quizzes, providing latest updates and various promotions encouraging people not to drink and drive.

FICCI’s international sustainable development conference 2013 aimed at further enhancing awareness about sustainable development and highlighting the current initiatives in the corporate world.
