Ramjas college wins street play competition organised by SABMiller India at Faculty of Management Studies

Street play competition on responsible behavior- promoting the message of don't drink and drive and creating awareness on HIV/AIDS
Delhi, 31st January 2014 :In an endeavor to highlight social issues and create awareness, theatre teams of management colleges came together today to perform in a street play competition organised by SABMiller India at 'Zaika 2014'- the annual cultural festival by the Faculty of Management College, Delhi.The teams staged powerful acts on the theme on responsible behavior – Promoting message of not to drink and drive and creating awareness about HIV/AIDS.At a time when management students are scuffling between their hectic schedules and hunting for jobs, it was a great effort by the student community to spread these social messages with the support of SABMiller India.

Theatre teams from reputed colleges like Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (LBSIM), Guru TegBahadur Institute of Technology (GTBIT), Kalindi College, College of Vocational Studies (CVS), Ramjas College and Maharaja Agrasen college participated in the street play competition. The performance was judged by Akshay Bhatnagar- Project Director for 'Fireflies'- a flagship theatre project by Becoming I Foundation NGO.The three best performing teams Ramjas College, College of vocational studies and Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (LBSIM) were awarded a total prize money of Rs. 40,000 and the participants were given goodies from SABMiller India's responsible drinking campaign 'Respect the Road'- Don't drink and drive.

We believe that street play is a strong medium to create awareness, reach out to masses and highlight these social issues. Besides the street play competition, SABMiller India also organized a quiz on road safety at the festival. The winning students got exciting goodies like T-shirts, caps, note pads, pens, badges etc. from 'Respect the Road'- Don't drink and drive campaign. This is the second year in running as SABMiller India had organised a street play competition at FMS annual festival 2013. The two best performing team from previous year were Shri Guru Gobind Singh College and PGDAV.
