SABMiller India's Kerala Brewery wins the 'Kerala State Pollution Control Board Award 2015'
Ernakulam, 5th June 2015 – SABMiller India's Malabar Brewery in Thrissur, Kerala has won the "Kerala State Pollution Control Board Award 2015" for its initiative and compliances towards sustained effort in pollution control and environmental protection. The award was given by Sri. Aryadan Muhammad, Minister for Power and Pollution Control, Government of Kerala at the World Environment Day Celebration function at the Fine Arts Hall, Ernakulam on 5th June, 2015. The award carries a trophy, certificate and prize money of Rs 25,000/.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Srinivasa Narasaiah, Head Manufacturing, Malabar Breweries mentioned, "At SABMiller India, environment, health and safety are key drivers in all our manufacturing locations. Environment, health and safety (EHS) performance of all our breweries is very closely monitored & targets are set to improve EHS performance. We are happy to have won this award and this will further give us an impetus to continue our efforts in the area of pollution control and environment protection."

Ms Meenakshi Sharma, Vice President, Sustainability and Communication at SABMiller India said – "Environmental Sustainability is playing an active role and is one of SABMiller India's top sustainable development imperatives. We will continue to work towards achieving and improving our set targets in operational efficiencies".

The theme of this year's World Environment Day is "7 Billion Dreams, One Planet, Consume with Care", a message that fully reflects SABMiller's commitment to sustainable consumption.

SABMiller last year launched a new sustainable development programme called Prosper. As part of Prosper, targets have been set to address five 'shared imperatives' – big challenges that SABMiller believes are shared by society, business and government. One of the key imperative is ensuring a Clean World where nothing goes to waste and emissions are dramatically lower. As part of the imperative, SABMiller has set a target of reducing its carbon footprint per litre of beer across its value chains by 25% including 50% within the breweries by 2020.
